Solvitur ambulando "it is solved by walking"
Arianna Huffington, President and Editor-in-Chief at The Huffington Post Media Group recently wrote about the virtues of a good long walk- 'by walking we move through the world not just physically, but also spiritually'.
Its about freeing ourselves from what is happening around us, both physically and mentally, yet being spiritually present as we walk. We consistently see people walking through the streets with their heads down focused on iphones or with ear buds in their ears listening to music, constantly being bombarded with technology and information and not aware of whats happening around them or experiencing the world. I wonder how they find the quiet, the moment in between, when ideas and thoughts have an opportunity to free form as our minds slow and focus, the moments that allow your body and mind to recharge and your senses to awaken?
We know from study's that walking (without technology) enhances every kind of cognitive performance, from creativity to planning and problem solving and above all it also helps us to reconnect with ourselves. Sometimes you have to just stop, breath and head outside. We would love to hear some of your experiences shared.
