Alexander Rabin- Landscapes

Alex Rabin is a well-established Australian landscape artist working in acrylics on canvas. He has been painting for more than 20 years and specialises in the ever changing and often dramatic Australian Landscape. In April 2014, Jo Buffalo Design was approached to photograph and record onto DVD an exposé of his work spanning the last 20 years and subsequently represents Mr Rabin. 

"The thing that inspires me in choosing a scene to paint is the colour that is there. 

Whether its the brilliance of a sunset or the juxtaposition of colour from the flowers, trees, shrubs and grasses with the attending areas of shade and mystery.... this jumble of colour allows  me to add a dimension to  the scene that removes it from being a photographic representation to rather a combination of reality and what I see and feel when I look at it. 

It has been my experience that once a painting is begun it takes on a life of its own, and it is these hidden byways that provide a challenge to discover and then the satisfaction of somehow solving the puzzle presented to the artist." Alexander Rabin
